VALUES

Our shared values

Before applying, please read through our core values and ensure that they align with yours. If they do, and you are motivated by building and deploying innovative nuclear technologies in critical environments, we want you at Zeno.

Intellectual honesty and scientific integrity are core to who we are as a company. We earn trust by doing things the right way, delivering on our commitments every day, and holding ourselves accountable to the highest standard.

Supporting missions to space doesn’t absolve us from taking care of Earth. Climate change is an existential threat to humankind; and we commit to maintaining a carbon neutral footprint, and leaving the planet a better place than we found it. We know that radioactive material, like any other hazardous material, poses a risk if not handled properly; we’ll always prioritize human and environmental safety as a core business interest.

When we say we are providing power anywhere, we also mean to anyone. To do that well, we need a team that’s representative of the communities we seek to serve. We are conscious of the history of epistemic and institutional exclusion in our industry, and committed to playing a leadership role in the fight to make our company and industry more inclusive.

We embrace the fact that our success as a company is dependent upon the collective energy, contributions, and well-being of each of our teammates. So we show up for each other personally and professionally. We do this by listening, empathizing, and providing each other with open, honest, and direct feedback - even when it’s tough to do so.

On multiple occasions since our founding, we’ve taken on and overcome hurdles that skeptics told us were insurmountable. We are motivated by taking a new look at problems that others have failed at solving, and perform our best in the face of adversity. At the same time, we recognize our limitations, and believe that no door is too intimidating to knock on for advice.

Who we are

The people powering our progress

Before Zeno, I spent 15 years supporting the nuclear Navy, both in uniform and later as a civilian. I came to Zeno because of the culture — this is a company that truly lives by its values. They aren’t just words on a poster; they guide how decisions are made, how we treat each other, and how we tackle challenges.

Today, I get to bring my nuclear background into an environment that values collaboration, bold ideas, and doing things the right way. It’s motivating to be part of a team where the culture is as strong as the mission.

Chelsea Ware

Senior Specialist – Fuel Supply Chain

I’ve always dreamed of working in the space industry. I started my career working on launch rockets to reduce the cost to reach space – now at Zeno, I’m helping make it possible to stay. My role brings together everything from early design with customers and regulators to hands-on testing and assembly of our nuclear batteries.

The missions we support span decades and even centuries. I’m proud to be part of a team building power systems that not only fuel a future in space, but also provide clean energy here on Earth.

Patrick Harvey

Chief Engineer – Systems and Design

Zeno offers an invigorating space to focus my scientific skills on building a unique product. I’ve always been driven to create innovations that improve lives, whether developing drugs for unmet needs or designing technology for underserved communities. Now, I’m helping transform a radioactive byproduct into a powerful, long-lasting energy source. Our team is designing a system that can safely harness this energy in a durable form.

It’s an ambitious goal, capturing power that can be deployed anywhere from the ocean floor to the edge of the universe.

Ted Baughman

Principal Chemist

Before Zeno, I spent six years in the commercial aerospace industry as a manufacturing engineer and project manager. My passion for leading development teams through complex, first-of-a-kind efforts led me to Zeno.

Today, I oversee the design, fabrication, and testing of our integrated power systems for our Harmonia Project with NASA. I work closely with our team and partners to ensure everything is aligned and moving forward. It’s incredibly rewarding to know the work we do today will help power the future of space exploration.
